Welcome to the Play-Cricket Homepage of Maldon Cricket Club
Maldon Cricket Club was formed in 1976 following the merging of Maldon Strollers CC and Old Maldonians CC. Since this point, the club has gone from strength to strength.
The club's first team has been regular members of the upper echelons Two Counties League ever since, broken by a five year stint in the East Anglian Premier League. This culminated in the club finishing second in the EAPL in 2003, a notable achievement for a club of our size.
Our time in the EAPL saw the club bring through many young players from our own colts system. One of those, Alastair Cook, has gone on to achieve many things within the game, and is current England Captain, as well as the countries all time leading Test Match century maker. He is still a huge part of the club, and all involved with the club are incredibly proud of his achievements.
Alastair's involvement in the club has remained following him becoming Patron of the David Randall Foundation, which was set up in memory of David, who died of bowel cancer at the tragically young age of 27 in 2012. The Charity is building with the support of all the club's members and David's family and friends. This has led to the club organising the annual Rock Up for Randall event in David's memory, celebrating David's two biggest passions: Sport and Music. The club will be continuing with many exciting events and fundraising projects during 2014. More information on the charity can be found at davidrandallfoundation.org .
On the pitch, the club runs six men's teams, two ladies teams and colts teams for boys and girls starting at Under 9. The club aims to provide cricket for all members in a fun and enjoyable environment, while encouraging the young members of the club to develop further.
We are a friendly and welcoming the club who welcome new members at any time. If you'd like to know more then send us an email at any time. We'd be happy to hear from you.
