Welcome To Maldon Cricket Club

Welcome to the Maldon Cricket Club.

We currently compete in the Essex & Suffolk Two Counties Championship, with four teams taking the field every Saturday, providing cricket for players at all levels.
The 1st Eleven play in Division One, with our other teams will compete in Divisions six, eight and nine in the 2008 season.

On a Sunday our first team together with some of our most promising colts is set to compete for the second season in the PDQ Premier League.

We also have a team that has played regularly in the Two counties Division C competition and who in 2007 finished in 8th place.

We also have Girls and Ladies teams, who play in the Beaumont Seymour League, on Friday evenings. The club is proud to see this area of the club prosper, with a number of player representating Essex and the District- and we hope for continued success in 2008.

We have a whole host of activities for our younger members.
Children between the ages of 6 to 16 can come along to Drapers Farm during the summer to learn and play the game. The club has over 200 youth members attending weekly training sessions.

The Club is justifiably proud of its Colts system which has produced some fine players. Alastair Cook progressed through the club rapidly, eventually making his way into the Essex first Eleven. Then, he earned a call up to the England squad in 2006 and became only the 16th Englishman to score a century on debut against India at Nagpur.

He has become the youngest batsman in English Test Match History to reach 2000 runs, a superb achivement at this early stage of his career.

We work in Partnership with The Plume School and Maldon Council to develop Cricket in the District, and part of this involves hosting a Kwik Cricket Festival for Primary schools in the Maldon area.In the winter we run a school of excellence with our partners to develop our younger cricketers. As a result of these initiatives we were invited by the Cricket Foundation to take part in the Chance to Shine scheme enabling the club to extend its coaching activities further.

You are welcome to visit us, and have an enjoyable time.

Chairman
