Welcome To Maldon Cricket Club

Welcome to Maldon Cricket Club We are the home club of Alastair Cook, who progressed through the club rapidly, eventually making his way into the Essex first Eleven and to become an establish England batsman. Alastair scored 766 runs in the 2010-11 Ashes series, the second highest number of runs by an Englishman in a test series Cricket in Maldon has a long tradition dating back to 1755, with the present club being formed in 1976. We currently compete in the Essex & Suffolk Two Counties Championship, and three competitive teams will play every Saturday. This is a feeder league to East Anglian Premier League, where we were runners up in 2003. We also have a Sunday teams who plays in the Warsop Sunday League competition and friendly matches We also have a thriving Ladies teams, who play in the Beaumont Seymour League, on Friday evenings. The club is proud to see this area of the club prosper, with a number of player representating Essex and the District. We have a whole host of activities for our young players. Children between the ages of 6 to 16 can come along to Drapers Farm during the summer to learn and play the game. The club has over 200 youth members attending weekly training sessions. The Club is justifiably proud of its Colts system which has produced some fine players. A large proportion of players who represent the club each weekend have been developed through the system. We also have 2 youth teams competing at Under 9 U11, U13 and U15 in the Central Essex District League. We also have girl's teams at Under 11, 13 and 15 The colts website is worth a look at www.maldon.hitscricket.com We work in Partnership with The Plume School and Maldon District Council to develop Cricket in the District, and part of this involves hosting a Kwik Cricket Festival for Primary schools in the Maldon area. In the winter we run a school of excellence with our partners to develop our younger cricketers. You are welcome to visit us throughout the summer, and have an enjoyable time.
